Exposé

Exposé was not the original villain of the first 2 chapters, originally it was a man called 'The Filmmaker' but his design was boring and his character motives were practically nonexistent.  Midway through the first chapter I created Exposé to replace him, she had a much more memorable design and personality that I greatly prefered.  I didn't change her design much from the first drawing I did of her, aside from exaggerating some shapes like the puffy jacket.

Her face is supposed to be sharp and angular and the rectangular eyes with the almost slit pupils give her a threatening appearance.  Her puffy jacket contributes to creating an interesting silhouette and also gives her design more movement and energy.

The E-Bots are Exposé's faceless henchmen.  Their designs are sleek and simple, they don't speak and are meant to be mysterious perpetrators carrying out their master's orders.  The anatomy of E-Bots is supposed to be slightly elongated and unnatural to allude to the fact that they aren't human.

The Corvus Collective

The Corvus Collective members are the most recent characters I've created.  I decided I needed to incorporate more male villains so I came up with Magpie and his henchmen.  I also came up with Mother Raven, even though I did not initially intend to create another female character.  Mother Raven and Magpie are both inspired by mob bosses, their henchmen are inspired by the underlings in old mobs.

I gave the entire group a corvid theme because of the group of bird's ominous association and renowned intelligence.  Corvids, particularly magpies, also love to steal shiny things, the perfect theme for a thief.  Mother Raven is based on a raven because of similar reasoning, but ravens are also thought to be the most intelligent of the corvid family, which is why she's first in charge.

The henchmen don't have a specific species association but rather generally follow the design precedents set by their bosses.

Dr. Quartz

Charles Quartz, a grumpy geological archivist, had the misfortune of being struck by a shard of crystal during the fight between Chameleon and Magpie.  This resulted in his transformation into a crystalline monster, hellbent on revenge.  Quartz was created to be physically imposing, a lot of the other villains I made were roughly the same size as Chameleon so I wanted Quartz to be much larger.

While Quartz does have reason for being upset, he is also openly antagonistic and uncontrollable, a possible side effect of his increasingly crystalizing brain.  Quartz was originally supposed to have a villain counterpart in the other museum curator, her being a fossil themed villain.  However this idea was cut due to time constraints and she was never made a villain.
